I spent a good chunk of the movie imaging what it must feel like to be stuck on this island, and my mind quickly began applying this same concept to my own life. I felt awful for the characters stuck on the island. You watch as people grow, age, become physically and mentally ill, and die at an alarming rate which can cause the audience to connect with their own fears.
The movie is more of an emotional roller coaster than anything else. That one little 5 minute scene was the most interesting part of the whole movie. How does it affect the people working there? What happens if someone volunteers to die for a cause and is placed on the beach with everyone else who doesn't know better? Where's the guy fighting to separate the innocent family members and let them live normal lives? Subvert my expectations, show me a CEO who on the outside seems like a typical cold, psychopathic villain who only cares about profits only to later expose the truth that he's deeply depressed about all of the people he's killed and is genuinely trying to make the world a better place but needs to play the part to keep the business funded and the board happy. cman, where's THAT movie?! I would actually be interested in exploring the morality of an entire company trying to help the world designed around the trolley problem. The pharmaceutical twist was clearly his, but. Night Shyamalan(written for the screen by), Pierre-Oscar Lévy(based on the graphic novel "Sandcastle" by), Frederick Peeters(based on the graphic novel "Sandcastle" by)įunny thing is, you could almost see what scenes were his and what came from the graphic novel.
